Great Pond Cleanup at Peconic Dunes Camp

Join Kenney’s/McCabe Beach Civic Association, Group for the East End and the Town of Southold for a cleanup at Great Pond in Southold. Meet us at Peconic Dunes Camp! Volunteers will help remove phragmites, an invasive species also known as common reed, to help restore this critical habitat and encourage native plant regrowth.

Sign up here to reserve your place.

Long sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed toe shoes are strongly recommended to protect against ticks and phragmites. Tools will be available; you’re encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Bring work gloves, and plenty of water.

This habitat restoration project is made possible by funding awarded to the Town of Southold by a Long Island Sound Futures Fund, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant.

Note these recommendations from Suffolk County Health Services on tick borne disease prevention.

Meet your neighbors!  Bring the kids! Thanks for helping…
