Call for Association Board Members

The Kenney’s/McCabe’s Beach Civic Association is seeking members to serve on its Board of Directors.

Under association bylaws, the board is to be comprised of four officers and up to six additional board members. With four officers and four board members in place, we are looking for two new members who care about the neighborhood and want to help build on the association’s positive momentum through participation, collaboration, and leadership.

Membership continues to grow through association outreach efforts, and our initiatives and planned events have expanded in number and scope to engage more neighbors. We are looking for community-minded people to join us in setting and implementing the association’s agenda in support of its purpose.

What is our association all about?

As stated in the Association Bylaws:  "The purpose of this Association shall be to enhance and preserve the residential character and natural environment of the neighborhood surrounding Kenney's Beach and McCabe's Beach and to promote and protect the common interests and welfare of the residents and property owners of said neighborhood.”

The board determines the direction of the association over time, while staying true to our purpose. Recently our board focus has been on building community among association members and caring for the unique environment within our association area. Your involvement can help shape the association’s future focus.

What is board service like?

Members are elected for a renewable two-year term. Board service includes attending quarterly meetings (held via Zoom or in person), contributing new ideas and participating in discussions, leading or supporting projects and events, and facilitating communication with members.

Am I a good candidate for this role?

The ideal candidate is dependable, collaborative, and willing to contribute time and ideas in support of association goals. We value people who communicate well, follow through on commitments, and enjoy working with others as they support events, outreach, and other board responsibilities.

Prior board experience is welcome but not required.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, a spirit of service, and a genuine interest in enriching the sense of community in our association area.
